WHITEOUT
A distress beacon is pinging from a cabin in the storm. Reach it before the snow buries your view.
Needs a keyboard for now. Open it on a laptop or desktop.
THE MISSION
Somewhere in the storm, a cabin's beacon is still pinging. You have one job: reach it before the snow buries your view. No map. Just a compass needle that shakes in the gusts, and a warm window light you'll only catch when the wind drops.
WHAT WE'RE TESTING
Can a web browser run a living blizzard? Not a looping animation, but a simulation. Gusts roll across the terrain, snow builds on your view faster when you face into the wind, trees bend and shed their snow, and the light shifts as the storm breathes. Every day has its own blizzard, and it's the same storm for everyone.
HOW IT WORKS
Wind shoves you off course. Brace to stand your ground, but it burns stamina. Step into the lee of a spruce to recover. Stop to wipe the lens, but every second standing still lets the storm close in. It's a composure test: pace yourself, read the wind, don't panic.
WHAT'S NEXT
Right now it's keyboard only. The next test puts your body in control: brace against the wind with a real horse stance, and push forward by marching in place. Same storm, but your legs do the work.
CONTROLS
- W / S walk
- A / D turn
- Shift brace
- Space wipe lens
- M mute
- H hide HUD
